ADULT

Drawing & Painting Figure Studio (Ages 16+)
Instructor: Du Truong

Looking for an open studio class that provides more drawing time with the nude figure in any medium? Models will be scheduled for two-week increments, allowing students ample amount of time to create finished drawings. Students are encouraged to be creative by exploring a variety of media and experimenting with new techniques. Instructor will work with students individually to help them improve their drawing skills and composition. The class is perfect for high school students who are looking to expand their art portfolio. This class uses a nude model.

Du Truong, My Fairy Princess, pastel

 

Pastel: Figure & Portrait
Instructor: Du Truong

Learn the fundamentals of color theory to properly layer colors and capture the figure with pastel. The class will focus on basic anatomy needed to do portraiture and the figure. Models will be scheduled in three-week increments, allowing students ample amount of time to do studies and experiment with a variety of colored papers to enhance their drawing. All levels are welcome.

Contemporary Oil Painting
Instructor: Paula Zammit

Students will be looking at the traditional medium of oil but with a fresh, contemporary perspective. We will be focusing on composition and color, as well as multiple ways to complete a much more dynamic piece, regardless of the subject matter. Students are encouraged to choose subject matter that is personally significant and meaningful to them, and bring to the first class.

Sculpting the Figure with Oil Clay
Instructor: Mary Dudek

Through a series of anatomy lectures and direct observation, students will sculpt their own figures in oil clay. By studying superficial muscles groups and the skeleton, students will gain a basic understanding of anatomy and figure sculpture. Students will make 12” figures in oil clay and come away with a deep appreciation for the human body and better understanding of form and proportions.

Prerequisite: Previous experience/courses in figure drawing is highly recommended.

HIGH SCHOOL

Drawing Fundamentals: Grades 8 – 12

Instructor: Kathleen Robinson

Students will learn the core drawing skills necessary to express their ideas and observations visually. Emphasis will be on developing observational skills and understanding the structure of drawings: perspective, contour, volumetric rendering and composition. For students intending to study design or visual art in college, this is a great opportunity to develop portfolio pieces.

Once students are successful in Drawing Fundamentals they can move on to an advanced drawing course to develop creative expressions and a more comprehensive understanding of the elements introduced in Drawing Fundamentals. A materials list will be provided on the first day of class.

High School Oil Painting: Grades 9 – 12

Instructor: Brian Skol

Students will learn the fundamentals of oil painting, and the concepts needed to work from life, from photos, and the imagination to help complete projects done in class. Both direct and indirect methods will be covered, as well as an overview of composition. A materials list will be provided on the first day of class.

Intro to Pastels & Watercolor: Grades 9 – 12

Color mixing and values will be covered as well as a study of the media and the materials used for both pastels and watercolor paint. A variety of subject matter will be explored including landscape, still life, and abstraction. A materials list will be provided on the first day of class.
